Great atmosphere, wide age range, completely unpretentious! Dancing is more casual and less flamoyant than havana nights, ryles etc. Everyone there seems to love to dance, whether they're in their 30's or 70's, and it's more about fun than skills. Beginners will feel comfortable here. This was the first club (waaaaay back in the day) where I happened upon Latin dance and fell in love with the music. It's still my favorite.
Friday nights is mostly Reggaethon and kinda sucks but Saturday night is the night to go. Salsa, Merengue, Batchata with a little Reggaethon thrown in.
(For those returning... It used to be you could park at the Market Basket lot... but check with management 'cos you may get towed. Parking within a block or so is easy to find).

Club Choices has revamped itself and is poised to become one of Boston's hottest salsa scenes for salseros and salseritas in-the-know. The club is softly lit and its raised dancefloor and lounge area are perfectly designed for guests to feel part of the main action, whether they are dancing the night away or watching the magic from the comfortable chairs. Come to Choices to feel the warmth of Latin culture and the excitement of dancing in a new way... whether you are starting salsa or are a seasoned dancer you will find yourself smiling from the fresh energy all around.
Choices' hidden treasures are the instructors, all incredible dancers and the most dedicated teachers around, and the DJ, who spins the best blend of salsa, bachata, merengue, and the occasional reggeton you will find in Boston.
The word "Choices" usually implies difficult decisions between attractive options, but Club Choices is for those of us who don't like to choose: It has the edge of a club with the warmth of a house party, music for everyone, and the perfect blend of open spaces and cozy nooks for you and your special someone.
Water is free, the atmosphere is safe, and no woman will have to wait long to be asked to dance. Tucked in the heart of Somerville, the club is easily accessible by car and has free parking.
is now open for salsa nights on Tuesdays and Sunday evenings.

Being new to the Boston area, I am on a mission to check out all the Latin clubs in the area. This time it was Club Choices! I attended on a Saturday night and had a great time! The people there were extremely friendly and laid-back--primarily thirty to forty-something year old Latinos and Haitians. Everyone was smiling while they were dancing--not only at the people they were dancing with but also to other people on the dance floor! One lady started talking to me while I was dancing--that usu. means that they are mad because you bumped into them or something. But not at Club Choices! She was stopping to say, "Wow! This is a lot of work for us mujeres, no?! We have to keep shaking our hips!" Also, males and females were singing along visibly to the songs as they were dancing. I really enjoyed the unpretentious atmosphere.
While a lot of reviews emphasize how tiny the club is, it's not as small as I was expecting. It's a small intimate atmosphere, but there's space to dance.
I was amazed because there was a large gender imbalance. There were a few females and a huge crowd of males just standing waiting their turn to ask a lady to dance. One of the downsides though is that the level of dancing is not very high. It's a give-and-take. While people are just having fun--you don't have the chance to dance the right steps to the songs. Of all the people there, I think there were only about 7 or 8 people who even knew the basic salsa step. However, when the merengue, cumbia, bachata etc. came on, the small dance floor was packed!
The music selection was decent. They played slightly longer merengue sets, they played bachata, and also salsa sets of a nice length. I was a bit annoyed though when they started playing hip-hop (not that I don't like hip-hop, but I go to a hip-hop club if I want that.) When the hip-hop came on, all the twenty-somethings jumped on the floor and started freak-dancing. I was even more annoyed when they played this sappy love ballad. Good thing they only played one of those the whole time I was there though.
I'm not sure how much the drinks were because some guy bought me a free drink and then went and kept dancing with other people. I liked that. Also, for the most part, men were respectful in their dancing. They weren't trying to get super-close to the women. They kept a nice distance yet still made it fun.
The good things for ladies though is that on Saturday nights, all the women receive a red carnation as you leave the club!
So go to Club Choices if you just want to relax and have fun, but don't expect to try out your fancy salsa turns or merengue sweethearts while you're there! :)

This isn't the same old Club Choices, although it's a respectful older crowd for the most part there is a lot of diversity there. If you're just looking for Salsa, this place is not for you but if you want to experience something more, come check it out. Choices is one of the longest lasting clubs in the Greater Boston area, there must be a reason. As for the dancers, if you find the right ones you're all set, but just like any club there are people that are not that great at dancing the only difference is that these clients are just out to dance and have a good time so they don't care if there the best, it's all about fun.

cover charge is $5 on saturdays; expect older folks, some couples and bad dancers; ratio of men to women is high, but that's not necessarily good here, ladies, b/c they can't dance!
