Corvos is an OK club. The dancers are ok. Ive been living in Connecticut for a while and its a tride and true friday night. Unfortunately the dj plays more merengue, bachata, reggae thone and now rap ( :p ) than salsa. If you only like salsa/cha cha cha half the time when the club closes you really could have danced more. There are a lot of drinkers in the other dances though so we all have to co exist or so they say. On the cliquishness .... It is most definetly present. Hartford is not a major metropolis ... these people are not used to meeting lots of new people all the time like clubs in NY, MA so they are more comfortable chilling in their own groups. Apply the regular salsa rule and go with someone you can show-off with ... Then you'll be fine if your that good. As a beginner when i started i did not this club. If there was an alternative i would attend. However, in a pinch *read most friday nights in this in-betweener state* it'll do. Lets hope sal(owner) goes to sophias one night so he can see how it could be done :)

I enjoy going on Friday nights, cover charge is vary reasonable and well worth it. I find people to be friendly, I have never seen a fight there, they have a free buffet and quite a few good dancers there specially salseros. There is only one problem, even though it has 2 dance floors and 2 bars this place gets way too crowded, most of the time is very difficult to dance, even getting a drink gets to be a journey, if they moved to a bigger place or expanded it I would call it the best club to go on Friday nights in hartford.I would still recommed this place to anyone that doesn't mind crowded places.

I read the review on the home page about Corvo's and can understand the somewhat negative perception of the author. However, I enjoyed everything about the club, had no problem asking women to dance. If by "cliquish", the author meant people keep to themselves, well somewhat, but I think it has to do with how an outsider inserts himslef into the atmosphere.
The owner took care of me very well, she was more than hospitable, I found it hard to buy my own drinks; the place was very "classy", no "punks" allowed, dress code, the staff very professional, the DJ focused on a great mix of classics with newer music.
It's almost a neighborhood bodega, but people come from all around.
Great place.
