From what I understand Trumpets no longer has latin night.

I went back once. The floor became normal for dancing and lost the stickiness. The sound was a bit loud, but I did not feel an ear problm until I left, and my hearing recovered in a few hours. The lesson had few students. I found enough dance partners, although not everyone would dance with me, as usual. I would go back if there was nothing else to do, but it no longer is a "must do" every Friday. I usually find something else.

Used to be the place to be for mostly salsa dancing. I used to be a regular every week. Everyone stays with there own cliques, maybe because they feel more comfortable dancing with people they are familiar with. I myself, like to dance with anyone because I enjoy meeting new people (salseros and non-salseros)and as long as they enjoy dancing to the sounds of the latin beat. I do hear complaints from my male friends, that when the guys as the girls to dance, they get rejected. So ladies, don't complain guys are not asking you to dance. It's not that they don't want to ask you, it's because of fear of rejection. So if they ask you to dance, go ahead..it's just a dance...they're not asking for your hand in marriage. Even better, ladies...it's okay to ask the guys for a dance..more than likely, they'll be flattered that you approached them (unless their female companion is giving you the evil eye). Take a chance anyway. Remember, the reason why you are there is to dance, have fun and meet people..not to be a wallflower.

Trumpets is not the same. I am not going back until it gets more to my liking. The floor was redone and is now sticky. The sound requires earplugs and can get so loud it gets distorted. The new teacher is a great dancer but he doe not know how to teach and the class dropped off FROM UP TO 20 to two to four. Three Salsa numbers are in rotation with other dances and there is a long wait between Salsa sets. The Salsa sets vary from mild to hot. It is not worth waiting for the few good Salsa sets.A recent live Sonora Poncena concert would have been great, but the sound was cranked up so loud that the distortion ruined the evening. Most of my regular partners are absent. I loved the place. It used to be my favorite. It hurts me to loose it. Now, my favorite is the Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton every Tuesday night starting about 10 pm.

Update: Enter free starting at 9 PM until? Then $5. Chico gives beginner and intermediate free lesson until 10. Then dance until you drop, about 1:45. The floor has doubled in size and is very good for advanced dancers. Lots of regulars who dance with each other. Some are willing to dance with newcomers. Keep asking until you find someone. Safe. Nice people. Great music.

It's not a bad place to go for dancing on Friday nights in Western, MA. I still think that people go in groups or they stick with their friends and they don't branch out to dance with newcomers as much as they could. The salsa selection is very sad, but it is what seems to go over well in Western, MA. Slow, ballad like salsas, don't do much for me. Overall though, it is a safe place to go to dance and there are friendly folks.

No admission charge from 8:30 to 10, then $5.00. Intermediate lesson at 8:30. Then plenty of room to move on the dance floor. Some spectacular dancing from the likes of Nector and Luz and their friends. Ok for Salsa beginners, too. Friendly to newcomers.A nice mix of people. Easy to ask for a dance. Plenty of parking. Reasonably priced drinks. My preferred place to dance on Fri. night now. Chico is the DJ and dance instructor. He cares. Right off the Mass. Pike in Chicopee to the parking area steps from the door. Very safe. I have been dancing in the area for ten years and I also love to dance in Boston...note: Theresa's long running Friday night dance in Williamsburg is suspending after her New Years Eve party.

My first night at Trumpets was to see if it was as good as some people said. When I got there I saw some amazing dancing. I myself am a novice and didn't even try to get out there. Chico walked around saying hello to the crowd. I managed to get info. there for adv. lessons which turned out great. I look forward to friday nights now to practice new moves and see some great dancers.

The latest salsa club in Western MA is at Trumpets in Chicopee on Friday nights. DJ Chico knows what the crowd wants... SALSA! Because of his music selection and willingness to take requests, the best Springfield dancers have begun to attend the weekly latin nights. The area is safe, the club is clean and the music is great... did I mention that the cover charge is only $5... and that's only after 11 for las mujeres. I believe that the first drink for ladies is free (if they're still doing that... don't know... don't drink)and they were talking about adding a buffet last time I was there. Wide range of ages, about the same # of men and women (not particularly crowded because it's so new - personally, I like not being stepped on), pool tables far from the dance floor, nice people... check it out!
