Salsa Lessons

Summary
A large variety of Salsa and other Latin
dance lessons are offered in the Boston area by individual
instructors, professional dance studios, collegiate
ballroom clubs, and nightclubs. For first time
beginners, I suggest checking out one of the clubs that
offers introductory lessons. You can read more
about this in the Beginner's
Guide to Salsa in Boston.
Q: "My friends
won't come because..."
A: Here's some advice and a class to consider

Q: Class Registration?
A: Most lessons at nightclubs and social
dances are "drop in", meaning you can just
show up. Ongoing lessons at dance studios, usually
run about 4-6 weeks, once or twice a week, are more
rigorous, and build on material learned in each previous
class. They are also highly recommended, particularly
after you have taken a few drop-in beginner classes.
It is best to register for the entire course, though
the instructors sometimes will permit walk-in's. Check
with them before class.
Q: Do I need a partner?
A: In almost all cases, no partner is
required. By some magic (and this is universally
true), Salsa classes somehow manage to balance out pretty
well. If you do come with a partner, be prepared
to switch around though, since dancing with different
people is an important part of learning the dance, not
to mention the fun of it!
