Salseros and Salseras,

You are all invited to the first of the weekly Salsa
picnics in the park.

Salsa + weekend + outdoors + free + volunteer + Salsa
= SalsaJam!

SALSAJAM is a potluck picnic in the park on Sundays at
3:30 pm. The picnic is totally free and totally
volunteer. Bring Your Own Salsa, as in music, food,
drinks (zero alcohol).

SalsaJam is in JFK Park near Harvard Square every fair
weather Sunday that Memorial Drive is closed. Why?
Because skaters, cyclists, and runners go to Memorial
Drive, leaving the fountain in JFK Park an ideal place
for outdoor Salsa dancing.

SalsaJam is a picnic: We eat, we dance, we eat, we
dance...

SalsaJam is potluck: Bring food and drink (no alcohol,
no kidding). Bring your favorite Salsa CDs.

SalsaJam is volunteer: It happens because participants
want it to happen. We'll leave the area cleaner than
we find it.  To volunteer to assist in carrying in
supplies and running the picnic for a particular
Sunday, come to the first one or email

SalsaJam is a family affair: Are you not going to
Salsa clubs because you are too young, too old, can't
find a baby sitter, can't stand the smoke? All are
reasons to SalsaJam.

SalsaJam is fun: See it for yourself!

When is it? Sundays during the summer, from 3:30 to 6
pm.

Where is it?  Around the fountain in JFK Park which is
behind the Charles Hotel in Harvard Square. By subway,
get off at the Harvard Square stop and walk towards
the river on JFK Street. JFK Park is on the right
before you reach Memorial Drive. To get to the
fountain, walk along the back side of the brick
building (Harvard Kennedy School) and you'll run into
it. Note that Memorial Drive is closed to car traffic
on Sundays during the summer, so if you are driving,
you'll want to avoid that.

Already considered one of Cuba's best musicians, the 28 year old artist,
jazz
musician, arranger, showman, creative entity and rebel student of Cuba's
National School of Arts has proven time and again he has versatility well
beyond
his years. During a session between Gonzalo Rubalcaba and Tony Perez,
witnessed
by Producer Claude Ayi Ajavon in Havana's first jazz club, La Zorra y el
Cuervo,
Ajavon is transfixed by Perez's performance. While he considers Rubalcaba
Cuba's
best jazz improvisor, Perez shines as an exceptional talent. In late 1998,
Tony
performs in Europe with artists such as Paco Sery from the Zawinul Syndicate
and
Ruben Dantas from the Paco de Lucia sextet. That year he was chosen by
Chucho
Valdes to lead Irakere in all their European and American tours. Joining him
for
a night of extraordinary improvisational music will be John Lockwood and Bob
Gullotti from Boston's own The Fringe on bass and drums, Gregorio Vento on
congas and Tony Betancourt on guitar

Just wanted to let you know that a High School Orchestrar from Arroyo,
Puerto Rico (CBH) will be performing in different Spanish Festival in the
Month of July in Massachusetts.

First There will be a "Bailable" on Friday, July 19 at Boston, MA.  For more
information call IBA (Inquilino Boricuas en Accion) South End.

On Saturday, July 20 at the "Festival Betances" - Southend
Sunday, July 21 "Festival De Lawrence"
Thursday, July 25 at the "Festival Puertoriqueño de Boston"

This group which consist of 15 HighSchool Student who play all type of
instruments will be playing these days. Their message to the Latin Youth
is - if you put your mind to it you will get there.  The Lead Singer a
Female name Joy-lynn Bodon once lived in the Southend and always said she
wanted to become a singer some day.  Her dreams are coming true.  So lets
spread the word to the Latin Youth about this Latin youth group.
