Another week of Sultry Summer Salsa has gone by, and it was a heck of a weekend!  Congratulations to the 6 couples who have made it to the final amateur round of the SalsaBoston.com 2nd Annual Salsa Competition at the Supershag Mega Dance Complex! They are:

Finals are on Friday, Aug. 9th at the Knights of Columbus Hall, with a special Salsa Night there featuring the competition, performances, and we've invited guest International Salsa DJ Ricardo Loaiza from DC!  More details soon.

Following that, the afterparty went down at the Miami Club on Saturday night, which is becoming the new Salsa Hotspot.  DJ D. Martinez in the house there, come check out this festive new scene!

Puerto Rican Festival Parade
SalsaBoston Float
Sunday, July 28, noon

Salseros!  Want to be on it?  We've been offered a float by the parade organizers which is a 21ft flatbed tow truck, all cleaned up of course!  D. Martinez will be DJing with is mega sound system, and we need dancers!

This float is for the Salsa community and is open to anyone. Bring your banner and hang it on the truck.  We'll have couples dancing on the float and many others hopefully taking turns walking and flyering.  We will be decorating the float on Sat. around 5pm, and add finishing touches Sunday morning before the parade.

The parade starts at noon at the Madison Park High School, and ends at Franklin Park at the festival.

Q: Why is it $15?
A: Salseros drink an average of about $4 worth of water on a night out.  On a Saturday, that isn't going to do it.  A nightclub downtown needs to take in about $20 per person between cover and drinks in order to be acceptably profitable on a weekend.  Nightclubs are businesses afterall, so they need to have profit. But think of it this way: around $20 for a full night of excellent Salsa dancing at a beautiful club in a great location on a Saturday is a pretty good deal.
