Thanks to everyone who made it to the
Congreso Volunteer Brunch last Saturday! Looks like we're going to have a
really strong group helping put on this event. Quite a few people were not
able to make it as well, but we are sending information to those as well.
Our initial push is to raise sponsorship so we can bring in many more terrific
instructors and performance group and possibly a live Salsa orchestra.
Please join us for the next meeting, tentatively scheduled for next Saturday,
Oct. 12. Please RSVP to attend, email to olaf@salsaboston.com or call me
at 617-513-9841.
A couple of new features on the website, both on the
home page: top 10 readers choice nightclubs, as determined by the reader club
reviews. Please submit a review! Also, SalsaBoston "Poll if the
Moment", give us your two cents with a couple of simple clicks!
Periodically new polls will appear (about weekly).
Otherwise, a
relatively quiet week coming up. Start thinkong about your costume for the
contest on Wed. Oct. 30 at Sophia's, featuring international DJ Ricardo
Loaiza! Cash prizes and more!
Hope to see you Saturday at the
Miami Club, check it
out!
****************************************************** *** Miami
Club: Staying open and new lower prices!
*** ******************************************************
The last
few weeks have seen a tremendous jump in attendance as Boston's Salseros have
stepped up to the plate to support it. Thanks to all! As a result,
we will continue to stay open BUT WE STILL NEED YOU THERE! Fortunately
we're able to offer better admission prices now! Here's how it works: -
No more VIP list - Ladies only $5 before 10:30pm! - $10 cover - Doors
are opening at 9:15, lessons from 9:30-10:30 - Validated parking at Interpark
Garage on Beach St, only $5 Don't park at the lot adjacent, that one is
$10.
As with any new place, it's had its growing pains and we've had some
great nights and some not so great ones. But pretty much all the feedback
we have received since day one was really positive, and we all should thank each
other as a community, and also especially those who come support it regularly
and have stuck it through, even on some slow nights. Please continue to
provide your feedback. We had one suggestion for valet which we like,
especially given that some people feel uncomfortable in that area of
town. Also, Check out the reviews in the Nightclub section of
SpanishBoston.com!

Hips on fire: Esencia Latina members robbed while
performing
Hi, Yes you read right. This past Saturday, the members of
Esencia Latina were victims of a vandalism act, while they where performing in
their last presentation in their US visit. While everybody's attention was on
Esencia Latina, no attention was on their belongings, and someone decided to
take advantage of the situation and stole ALL their things. They lost
everything: plane tickets, passports, money, clothes (they were left only with
their performing clothes), shoes, watches, video cameras, photo cameras,
presents, etc. They were leaving the next day, and what seemed a good ending,
turned into a good nightmare, specially for those without passport and plane
tickets. We are planning to have a fund raiser Dance Party on Sunday October
27th at All Asia Restaurant. Come, have fun and join us to support them and to
take away the bitter taste they left with. We never ask for this, but we
think that in this case it is almost needed, so Donations are very welcomed and
can be given to us or sent to our home: 331 Lowell st #3 Somerville, MA,
02145 They also lost most of the video recording they did while here, so if
you have pictures or recording you want to share, that will be nice
also.

de Sol y Canto:
We hope you've had a wonderful summer. Sol y Canto is
busy recording our first bilingual children's CD and so far so good! In the
meantime, we hope you'll join us for this intimate show in Natick with our
dear friend and extraordinary international chanteuse, Elise Witt. Together
we're doing a program we call "Concert of the Americas" including songs in
Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, and yes, even some
English. Proceeds to benefit the West Virginia Workcamp. (A
church based organization that is very similar to Habitat for Humanity except
that they usually repair existing homes rather than build new ones.)
No se lo pierdan. Don't miss out.

********************************************************************* 6) Dear
Friends:
Recently I experienced some hardware
problems with my laptop hard drive, which I later discovered came from
having been sold a refurbished hard drive by Dell, when I thought I was
buying a new one. While trying to back up my data, the drive completely
failed, and as a result I had to send it out to a special data recovery
service. My computer capablities are currently very limited, and I hope
to regain usage of my laptop within one or two weeks. As such, I will
not be able to send out my weekly E-Mail Latin events newsletter updates,
and ask that you help me in promoting my events until I am back on
track.
Please forward this message to you
contacts and E-Mail lists for dance events, and inform them that I may be
reached at (617) 970-1444 or (617) 642-1444 until further notice.
My E-Mail access will be exteremly limited as well, but I may still be
reached at dan_y_marshall@prodigy.net. The following is a quick
