(A quick "Sorry Guys!" from Merle for last Friday, car problems got her and she missed her own party at Vincent's.  Stay tuned for a party another day...  Another 21st birthday shout-out to our very own Andres Giraldo!)

Relatively quiet this week in the scene, except this Friday Hips on Fire is hosting a gig at the Knights of Columbus in Charlestown with the Boston Debut of "Curubande".  Lesson at 9, $12 cover, performances, etc.  Don't miss it!  Details in the mailbag.

Also, tentatively next Sat. will be the finale Congreso volunteer brunch!  Drop me a line if you're not on the volunteer list, where the official announcement will be sent.

Of course, see you this Wednesday at Sophia's!  http://salsaboston.com/sophias

*** CONGRESO LOST AND FOUND:

FOUND: There's a number of things that were left over from the Salsa Congreso, shoes, clothes, a jam box, etc.  If you're missing anything, drop me an email with a description and I'll look for it.

LOST: SalsaBoston is also missing some DJ equipment that disappeared at Wonderland.  It's a black Newmark setup in a suitcase-like hard case, about 2ft x 1ft x 1ft with black felt on the outside and a handle on top (had some airline tags on it).  Any leads will be rewarded.

Dear Friends:

The Boston Latin Band, under the direction of Senor Hector Cuevas, will be celebrating with a CD release party at the Regatta Bar, in the Charles Hotel in Cambridge, Ma. on March 20, 2003!  The ticket office of the Regatta Bar isn't ready until the second week in January to sell tickets, so we won't be advertising for a little while, so don't call for tickets until we let you know they are prepared and ready to sell them.

There will be a dance floor for dancing the sinuous, sensuous, boleros, merengues and salsa. We are inviting the consulates from all the South American and Caribbean lands, the chambers of commerces, etc. etc. We expect an international audience to join with an orquesta from many nations. We are very much looking forward to having YOU with us for this big party to celebrate. If you can help us bring your friends, as well, by circulating a glitzy email announcement, we are already appreciating it from the bottoms of our hearts!

The email announcement is being prepared and we will send it to you when the Regatta Bar is ready to sell tickets. We hope you will be able to send it to many of your favorite people. We look forward to playing smooth, sophisticated latin music for you and sharing in the dynamic energy of the birth of a new band!..

We will let you know, meanwhile. where we will be playing in other places in January, February and early March . Hector Cuevas, Director, Janet Wiseman, Manager, The Boston Latin Band

(we hope the new logo will be the word Latin, in a sinuous, sensuous, curvaceous line, with the i becoming a dancing salsero, jazzing up the name, so to speak!)
