Happy Holidays to all! I’m personally heading to Miami to hook up

with Santa on the beach, but have a great one up here in cold-land…!

A quick note: we were toying with the idea of having a Christmas

Party at Sophia’s next week (Christmas Night), and by an 19 to 14

vote on the web poll it looked like we should be, but it was too

problematic to organize with Sophia’s and the Salsaboston staff,

so unfortunately no Salsa at Sophia’s on the 25th. We will be open

for a “keep the hangover alive” party on Jan 1!

Errata: the banner on the website for the Temporada Latina New Year’s

Party right incorrectly says $20. It’s actually $25. This misprint

will be fixed soon.

A mainstay of Latin music since its founding some 18 years

ago, Conjunto Clásico maintains the traditions of its Puerto Rican

and Afro-Cuban roots. In describing its sound, one must trace back

to Cuba and orchestrations which include trumpets and "tres" (similar

to a 12-string guitar) added to the traditional piano, bass and rhythm

sections. Under the direction of Ramon Castro, Conjunto Clásico expands

on that sound by adding strong Puerto Rican influences, tailor-made

compositions and an aggressive New York style that sets this band

apart from the rest.

With some 15 recordings to its credit, Conjunto Clásico has

given birth to some of the finest talent in today's Latin music,

including Tito Nieves, Johnny Rivera, Tito Allen and Rafael Dejusus.

The band's musical arrangements have consistently won critical acclaim.

On Monday, January the 6th we will have created history! Due to all

your

hard work and determination I will be inaugurated as an at large

member of the Boston City Council. I also have the honor of being

the first Latino elected to the Boston City Council. Please feel

free to joint us for this historic occasion on Monday, January 6th

at 9 am at Boston City Hall on the 5th floor in the Iannella Chambers.

At 10 am, after I am inaugurated, the City Council will recess

for a reception for about an hour and then return to elect its President.

We will be celebrating the inauguration at a mass scale on Sunday,

January

5 2003 at 7:00 PM, at Sophia’s Night Club (1270 Boylston Street in the

Fenway). On Sunday, January 5th we will have a double celebration,

not only will we be celebrating on the eve of my inauguration but

we will be

celebrating Three Kings Day.

Tickets will be $15.00 at the door. We are charging $15.00 because

election is only 9 month away! I need your physical, emotional and

financial help.

(You can donate up to $500 a year to a City Council campaign). In

case you can not make this event, or wish to donate in advance, please
