Well,
how many more snowstorms followed by nice sunny days can we have?! At
least it makes for good skiing. Salsa/Ski weekend? Hmmm...
Anyway, enough blathering...
DO YOU MISS SOPHIA'S???? March 18
we're opening up a new Friday Latin Night at Vertigo! That's a neat club
down on State St. right near Quincy Market. Every Friday Night, with a
latin mix by DJ Guy, one of Sophia's hot DJ's. It'll be a good mix of
Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Raggaeton, Latin House, and requests. Vertigo is
a swanky joint, very nicely decorated with a lounge and a downstairs
club/dancefloor. Latin on both floors. Easy by T, and there's modest
validated garage. The grand opening party will be with LeClub and !Avive!
Productions, so it'll be a grand night! Stay tuned for RSVP's. For
more details scroll down or visit
www.salsaboston.com/vertigo
Speaking of Spring, Sat, March 19m

An
Tua Nua is a great contemporary Irish bar & grill on Beacon Street just
outside of Kenmore Square (only about 3 blocks from Sophia's). In the back
they have a dance club about the same size as the upstairs at Sophia's, with a
sizable dance floor that holds about 150 people, a bar, and plenty of lounge
seating.
Close to the green line (St. Mary's on the C train),
plenty of street and lot parking.
Irish/America/Bar food available until
10pm. I have eaten there, it is tasty and modestly priced.
Note:
they have Karaoke in the front portion of the bar when you walk in, but don't
let that scare you... Salsa is in the back room! Full Bar. Please
check your coat.

******************************************************************* 1) Dear
Salsa Community,
The highly anticipated grand opening of Friday Night
Salsa at the Greek Club in Central Square was, as expected…. a great, big, fun
dance party done Havana Club style: con gusto, alma y sabor. With well over 300
cool classy salseros, amazing performances, tight tunes, high energy levels, and
a supurb setting – I can’t wait ‘til this Friday so we can take everything to
the next level!
And please know that we are working very hard to make
sure that every week there will be 250+ great people to party with so that
Boston has a Friday Night Salsa event we can all be excited about. This
Thursday, for example, the Globe Calendar section will have pictures from the
opening and a profile of our party. This Friday, another media outlet will be
visiting us. And, as always, please forward this email along to friends and
relevant lists.
Also know that we are thinking hard about how to scale
our approach to match the scale of the event. And we are seeking and
implementing recommendations on how to best run the party and make it as fun as
possible. You’ll see a consistency in the quality of our operations and
noticeable improvements each and every week. This week we'll have: an optional
coat check at the entrance ($1), drinks priced reasonably ($2 water, $4 beer,
$5/6 mixed drinks), the a/c turned on earlier, hor's deouvres, and wireless mics
for the teachers (hopefully, pending logistics).
This Friday we
welcome back Johnny and Andres Giraldo, who are two of the finest salseros and
people I have ever met in my life. The team and community at Havana Club is
special and means a lot to me. I hope to see you this week, and I promise
you it will be another great, big, fun party.
