Subject: #260: 5th Annual Boston Salsa Congress passes go on sale this weekend

Hola Salseros!
Formatting messed up?  Read this on the web at
     Subscription info: visit http://salsaboston.com/list

Hope you all had a great 4th of July Weekend!  Between Pepe's cape pig roast Sunday and the cruise last night, I know a whole bunch of us has a good time at least!  Unfortunately my camera decided to take a swim in the harbor yesterday, so you'll have to check out pictures on djdmartinez.com and aviveboston.com.  See you all again tomorrow at An Tua Nua!

Anyway, reserve your tickets for next Sunday's Salsa Cruise now!  www.salsaboston.com/cruise

*** 5th Annual Boston Salsa Congress! ***
Yes, the event is on the horizon, September 16-18, 2005, at Springtep, only 2.5 months from now...!  Starting this weekend for about two weeks, event passes will go on sale for a bargain $140 for the entire weekend, 3 days of workshops, dancing, performances, shopping, and sheer Salsa maddness!  After that, prices jump up to $180 for the weekend, and go up to $225 at the door.  Even though all the details aren't together yet, if you're planning to come at all (and keep in mind if you're a Salsero at all you know you probably will come anyway even if you aren't planning on it yet), save yourself a bundle and get your event pass now.  Day passes and other tickets will go on sale in a few weeks.  Last year's event was lauded by numerous invited Salsa stars as, "One of the best/most fun congress we've ever been to," so don't miss this fantastic weekend.  The website is coming together, and the tentative list of talent and schedule will be up in a few days.  www.salsaboston.com/congress  Vendors, advertisers, sponsors, please contact us!  Local performance groups, please contact us for audition info.  email: olaf@salsaboston.com or call 617-513-9841

Ana Tinajero is teaching an "Intensive Ladies' Styling Workshop" on Sat. July 9, 3-6pm.  She's amongst the best, ladies, so check it out! www.masacoteentertainment.com/workshop/anaworkshop.html or see mailbag

Lastly, Latin Fridays at Vertigo has been a lot of fun and is continuing, but I'm personally bowing out of bringing you that night to concentrate on more of what SalsaBoston does best, namely SALSA!  AviveBoston will be continuing to host that night as usual.  Look for a Saturday Salsa night coming soon! (yeah, we've got a few irons in the fire...)

In this issue:

Misc notes:
Planning meetings are happening now for the 5th Annual Boston Salsa Congress (TM), Sept 16-18 at Springstep.  We meet every Monday at Green Street Grille, between 9pm and 1am, depending on people's scehedule.  Usually 10pm-11:30.  Just show up, or let us know you're coming.  We need volunteers in all kinds of areas and we have some select paid positions if you need some part time work.  Call us for details, or email.

An Tua Nua is a great contemporary Irish bar & grill on Beacon Street just outside of Kenmore Square (only about 3 blocks from Sophia's).  In the back they have a dance club about the same size as the upstairs at Sophia's, with a sizable dance floor that holds about 150 people, a bar, and plenty of lounge seating.

Close to the green line (St. Mary's on the C train), plenty of street and lot parking.

Irish/America/Bar food available until 10pm.  I have eaten there, it is tasty and modestly priced.

Note: they have Karaoke with my man Kev MacDaddy in the front portion of the bar when you walk in, but don't let that scare you... Salsa is in the back room!  Full Bar.  Please check your coat.
