An Tua Nua Tonight!  No Sox game.

What an incredible weekend!  The 5th Annual Boston Salsa Congress was declared a smashing success and certainly topped last year!  There will be a more elaborate followup email in a few days.  There's so much to talk about.  If you have comments, please sign our guestbook!  www.salsaboston.com/congress/gb

This SUNDAY is the GRAND OPENING of Salsa Sundays at Mojitos!  Similar in format to Wednesdays at An Tua Nua, it features DJ D. Martinez and DJ Hernan.  Lesson at 8:30, dancing until closing.  This event will be upstairs on the beautiful dancefloor, and will feature SalsaBoston's ALL SALSA format (_not_ a mix of Salsa and Latin).  Join us!  For the grand opening, RSVP for $5 off the cover. THIS EVENT IS 19+ (guys and ladies) www.salsaboston.com/mojitosundays

If you missed the Congress or if you were there and didn't make it to the congress shop, the DVD will be out by mid October at the latest and probably sooner, and also Congress embroidered shirts (mens and ladies), caps, and hand towels are available.  Shirts and the video are $20 each, and the caps and towels $10.  Buy any two and you get $5 off, so the video and a shirt would be $35. www.salsaboston.com/congress/shop  We'll also have everything for sale at An Tua Nua tonight.

An Tua Nua is a great contemporary Irish bar & grill on Beacon Street just outside of Kenmore Square (only about 3 blocks from Sophia's).  In the back they have a dance club about the same size as the upstairs at Sophia's, with a sizable dance floor that holds about 150 people, a bar, and plenty of lounge seating.

Close to the green line (St. Mary's on the C train), plenty of street and lot parking.

Irish/America/Bar food available until 10pm.  I have eaten there, it is tasty and modestly priced.

Note: they have Karaoke with my man Kev MacDaddy in the front portion of the bar when you walk in, but don't let that scare you... Salsa is in the back room!  Full Bar.  Please check your coat.

Info:
HI! I'd like to share some information with you and hopefully it will be okay to share with your crowd.

This is a Tribute to "Salseros" by MICHAEL STUART whom is currently bringing this concept to various corners of the world. This event is on Saturday-9/24/2005 @ the copacabana in NYC.

If you have any questions or need some photos, please email me. Thanks for your time.

Below I have pasted a press release for this event:

Take a journey back in time when the songs we all know and love were first created. A time of a more pure and traditional salsa sound, aka “salsa gordo”. Latin Grammy nominated artist, Michael Stuart, is putting on a TRIBUTE show of pure nostalgia and flavor. For some of us, we will be reminded of our childhood and others of better days - going out and dancing at the clubs. Having a blissful time dancing to the infectious salsa rhythms.

Michael Stuart, proclaimed “El Mulato Rumbero” by Eddie Palmieri, will be performing songs by and paying TRIBUTE to the following artists:

Ismael Rivera – Las Tumbas
Héctor Lavoe – Juanito Alimania / De ti Depende
Frankie Ruiz – La Rueda
Sonora Ponceña – Fuego en el 23 / Yare
Willie Rosario – Callejero / Cuando se canta Bonito
Bobby Valentín – Nací Moreno / El Agua
Tommy Olivencia – Trucutu
El Gran Combo – Un verano en NY
Roberto Rohena – Escapulario
Cheo Feliciano – El Ratón / Amada Mía
Ray Barreto – Indestructible
Eddie Palmieri – Nada de ti / Deseo Salvaje
Pete “El Conde” Rodríguez – Catalina Laó
Marvin Santiago – Vaso de Colores
Luis “Perico”Ortiz – De Patitas

Songs are not limited to this list as Michael Stuart will fill 2 hours with equally great and well loved songs of the ‘70s. This well anticipated TRIBUTE show will be taken on tour to such countries as Venezuela, Colombia, Panama, United States and (of course) Puerto Rico. Without a doubt, this TRIBUTE promises to keep everybody on their feet dancing to the rhythms of the songs we’ve all had a life long love affair with.
