Tonight,
SalsaBoston celebrates the 5th anniversary of Salsa Wednesdays! With 4+
years at Sophia's, and almost a year now at An Tua Nua, the whole crew is
delighted to be behind Boston's second oldest Salsa Night, and the original "All
Salsa by Salseros for Salseros" establishment. Come celebrate with us
tonight! Special $12 cover on this holiday, lessons free. Surprises
as well. www.salsaboston.com/antuanua
ALSO! Did you make it
to the Fall Gala #2 at the Hyatt Regency? About 350 Salseros of all ages
were there from all over New England, including a lot of new faces. The
party was such a good time and everyone loved the place, so guess what, we're
doing it AGAIN! Yes, Save the Date:

For those looking for some non-salsa
tonight, I can recommend this one: Jet Set Events is hosting the "Wild
Turkey Party" at High Bar. $20 advance tickets, includes all complementary
drinks, food, and much more. A very upscale crowd, slightly "older" (30's
and 40's mostly). Details on the SalsaBoston home page and tickets
online. www.salsaboston.com
See you tonight at An Tua
Nua! -Olaf

* Have you checked out Masa? If you're
up for a casual night and some dining and an upscale bar, this place is cool on
Thursdays. Casual lesson around 10pm, a mix of music, no cover. 439
Trement St, South End, Boston
* If you missed the Congress or if you
enjoyed it but didn't make it to the congress shop, the DVD will be out by mid
November at the latest and probably sooner, and also Congress embroidered shirts
(mens and ladies), caps, and hand towels are available. We still have a
lot of things to pay for this year, so every purchase helps out. Shirts
and the video are $20 each, and the caps and towels $10. Buy any two and
you get $5 off, so the video and a shirt would be $35.
www.salsaboston.com/congress/shop We'll also have everything for sale at
An Tua Nua tonight.

An Tua Nua is a great contemporary Irish bar & grill on
Beacon Street just outside of Kenmore Square (only about 3 blocks from
Sophia's). In the back they have a dance club about the same size as the
upstairs at Sophia's, with a sizable dance floor that holds about 150 people, a
bar, and plenty of lounge seating.
Close to the green line (St.
Mary's on the C train), plenty of street and lot
parking.
Irish/America/Bar food available until 10pm. I have eaten
there, it is tasty and modestly priced.
Note: they have Karaoke with my
man Kev-Mac Daddy in the front portion of the bar when you walk in, but don't
let that scare you... Salsa is in the back room! Full Bar. Please
check your coat.

Motion workshop is back 2 days only: Tuesday Dec 6th and Dec 13th at 8pm -
Dance Complex.
In these classes we are going to be working on isolating
and then combining the move of different parts of the body: shoulders, hips,
torso... to improve your dance skills not only for Latino Dancing but for many
other dances. Salsa Merengue and Bachata, among others, are Latino
rhythms. For us, Latinos, the way you move is probably the most important
component of your dance. Learn to dance with "SABORRRRR", adding movements to
other parts of you body besides your feet and hands: hips, torso, shoulders,
pelvis and butt. All of them, nicely combined, can make a huge difference when
you jump to the dance floor. So what do you think?? Do you want to try it out
and see how much you can improve?? Even if you don't take your dance that
seriously, come over and join us, we guarantee you will have a lot of fun and,
you will find lost parts of your body. Tuesday Dec 6th & Dec 13th at the

Boston's
newest and hottest salsa band, OBBINI TUMBAO, will return to the Regattabar on
Tuesday, November 29th, at 7:30pm, as part of the club's Latin Beat Tuesdays
series. Founders, Rebecca Cline on piano and Ana Norgaard on percussion, will
lead an outstanding ensemble comprised of the areas best performers: Manolo
Mairena on lead vocals and percussion, Angel Subero on trombone, Luis Gemelo on
baby bass, and Gregorio Vento on percussion. The music of Obbini Tumbao
blends folkloric and popular Cuban music with North American jazz to create a
body of work whose infectious rhythms will make you want to get up and dance.
Cline, from Athens, Georgia, and Norgaard, from Caracas, Venezuela, join forces
to produce a compelling new repertoire that incorporates the wide range of
musical influences they share. The sextet will play a broad selection of beloved
dance classics, as well as the band's own compositions.
