Subject: #277: Holiday Party coming up Dec. 17, Salsa at An Tua Nua Tonight

Hola Salseros!
Formatting messed up?  Read this on the web at

     Subscription info: visit http://salsaboston.com/list

Well, the winter is finally upon us...  Me?  Just booked my ticket to Miami for the holidays!  Send me a note if you're going to be down there and we can meet up at the clubs.

Some hot stuff on the horizon:

- Saturday. Dec. 17th, SalsaBoston's Holiday Party at the Hyatt Regency Cambridge, a class act _Salsa_ night, performances, and the whole bit (no band this time).  Everyone raved about this great new special party space last month, so mark your calendar!  www.salsaboston.com/holidayparty  Tickets on the website.  ALL AGES. More below.

- Thur. Dec. 15th, not Salsa per se but we're teaming up with Jet Set Events for a Toys for Tots Christmans Cocktail Soiree & Benefit at the High Bar.  I'll see if I can't get some "Salsa sets" lined up downstairs.  Should be a good party.  Also, New Years!  http://salsaboston.com/jetsetevents/newyear.html

- Saturdays, starting in January, it's 95% certain now: we will be opening Salsa Saturdays downtown (fin. district near the new Rose Kennedy Park) at a great new spot.  Two big levels with new wood, classy renovations, $6 garage parking in a modern office building across the street, dining, and much more.  We will have a huge grand opening party.  More details forthcoming (the location is still secret!), but get excited because this is going to be 'da new spot!

So... action item: Book your tickets right now for Dec. 17th!  ($5 off advance)

*** SalsaBoston's Holiday Salsa Party!! ***
      Cambridge Hyatt Regency Hotel
         Saturday, December 17
           An All Ages Event

Brought to you in conjunction with:
JetSet Events (producers of some of Boston's finest soirees)
your favorite DJ's, D.Martinez and Hernan
All the details: www.salsaboston.com/holidayparty

We got so much great feedback from last month's Gala at the Hyatt that we went right ahead and booked another night.  This time we will feature a performance show with some of finest acts, and also we expect this party to have a whole new flavor with the JetSet Events crowd coming in to party with all the regular Salseros!  It will be a good night to meet some new friends.

Also, there will be a free "Salsa for Gringos" lesson at 9pm.  If you feel like you've got two left feet, this lesson is for you.

Tickets are $15 advance, $20 at the door, and *valid, unexpired* college ID or under 18 saves you $5.  Tickets are available now online.

Check out photos from last time at djdmartinez.com http://www.bostonwebteam.com/djd/gallery.asp?categoryid=137

Lastly, Salsa Sundays at Mojitos is closed for the holiday season and will reopen in January.

See you on the dancefloor at An Tua Nua tonight!

* Have you checked out Masa?  If you're up for a casual night and some dining and an upscale bar, this place is cool on Thursdays.  Casual lesson around 10pm, a mix of music, no cover.  439 Trement St, South End, Boston

* If you missed the Congress or if you enjoyed it but didn't make it to the congress shop, the DVD will be out by mid November at the latest and probably sooner, and also Congress embroidered shirts (mens and ladies), caps, and hand towels are available.  We still have a lot of things to pay for this year, so every purchase helps out.  Shirts and the video are $20 each, and the caps and towels $10.  Buy any two and you get $5 off, so the video and a shirt would be $35. www.salsaboston.com/congress/shop

An Tua Nua is a great contemporary Irish bar & grill on Beacon Street just outside of Kenmore Square (only about 3 blocks from Sophia's).  In the back they have a dance club about the same size as the upstairs at Sophia's, with a sizable dance floor that holds about 150 people, a bar, and plenty of lounge seating.

Close to the green line (St. Mary's on the C train, Fenway on the D, Kenmore on the B), plenty of street and lot parking.

Irish/America/Bar food available until 10pm.  I have eaten there regularly, it is very tasty and modestly priced.

Note: they have Karaoke with my man Kev-Mac Daddy in the front portion of the bar when you walk in, but don't let that scare you... Salsa is in the back room!  Full Bar.  Please check your coat.

Latino Motion workshop is back 2 days only:  Tuesday Dec 6th and Dec 13th at 8pm - Dance Complex.

In these classes we are going to be working on isolating and then combining the move of different parts of the body: shoulders, hips, torso... to improve your dance skills not only for Latino Dancing but for many other dances.  Salsa Merengue and Bachata, among others, are Latino rhythms. For us, Latinos, the way you move is probably the most important component of your dance. Learn to dance with "SABORRRRR", adding movements to other parts of you body besides your feet and hands: hips, torso, shoulders, pelvis and butt. All of them, nicely combined, can make a huge difference when you jump to the dance floor. So what do you think?? Do you want to try it out and see how much you can improve?? Even if you don't take your dance that seriously, come over and join us, we guarantee you will have a lot of fun and, you will find lost parts of your body.
Tuesday Dec 6th & Dec 13th at the Dance Complex - 8-9:30pm
536 Mass Av, Central Sq, Cambridge. ALL LEVELS!
