going on as summer approaches! Here are some highlights brought to you by
SalsaBoston, and if you're new to this e-magazine, be sure to check out the
mailbag at the bottom as well.
We are planning a party for this Sunday's
pre-Memorial Day holiday, but unfortunately it can't be at An Tua Nua because of
a private party. We'll send out an email when we know the details later
this week. Ryles is also rumored to be quiet that night on account of many
people being in LA this weekend, so it'll be a good night to try something
new. "Dionysus" 2nd floor of the Radisson on Memorial Dr. is one place
we're looking at. Stay tuned!
See you on the
dancefloor! -Olaf
** Tonight at AN TUA NUA, we're featuring a
special performance by Salsa Y Control! Boston's final preview performance
before they head to LA tomorrow to perform it for the world! http://www.salsaboston.com/antuanua

and for the Casino Rueda lovers, also at AN TUA NUA (lots of CR dancers these
days!) In response to a pressing demand, we've started up an intermediate &
advanced Casino Rueda workshop from 7-8pm at An Tua Nua, taught by Anara and
Katie. It will cover styling, technique, and even include some
choreography and performance-related coaching. You can register for a
session, but drop in's are welcome too. The workshop of course will "dile
que no" right into the regular Casino Rueda class from 8-9, which includes
beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. Classes will focus on teaching
fun new moves and leading and following technique. We're also going to
have a lot more CR dancing throughout the night on Wed.! It's just a
couple extra bucks to come for the workshops: $20 for drop in ($6
extra), and $15/week for the session ($1 extra)--and that includes the regular
class, and the club for the rest of the night too.

Have you checked out Masa? If you're up for a casual night and some dining
and an upscale bar, this place is cool on Thursdays. Casual lesson around
10pm, a mix of music, no cover. 439 Trement St, South End, Boston

If you missed the Congress or if you enjoyed it but didn't make it to the
congress shop, the DVD will be out by mid November at the latest and probably
sooner, and also Congress embroidered shirts (mens and ladies), caps, and hand
towels are available. We still have a lot of things to pay for this year,
so every purchase helps out. Shirts and the video are $20 each, and the
caps and towels $10. Buy any two and you get $5 off, so the video and a
shirt would be $35.

An Tua Nua is a great contemporary Irish bar & grill on
Beacon Street just outside of Kenmore Square (only about 3 blocks from
Sophia's). In the back they have a dance club about the same size as the
upstairs at Sophia's, with a sizable dance floor that holds about 150 people, a
bar, and plenty of lounge seating.
Close to the green line (St.
Mary's on the C train, Fenway on the D, Kenmore on the B), plenty of street and
lot parking.
Irish/America/Bar food available until 10pm. I have
eaten there regularly, it is very tasty and modestly priced.
Note: they
have Karaoke with my man Kev-Mac Daddy in the front portion of the bar when you
walk in, but don't let that scare you... Salsa is in the back room! Full
Bar. Please check your coat.
