Did you make it to the Hyatt last Saturday!  EEIIYYYYY!!  There were about 500 people there from all walks, having an absolute blast!  This was definitely the biggest party I've experienced in Boston, short of a street festival.  Thanks so much to all who made it there, all who helped spread the word, the Band, and all of the terrific SalsaBoston Staff!  We are planning another event later this summer hopefully, so stay tuned.  Check out the photos and order prints at http://www.superphotonet.com (Thanks Howie!)

An Tua Nua is a great contemporary Irish bar & grill on Beacon Street just outside of Kenmore Square (only about 3 blocks from Sophia's).  In the back they have a dance club about the same size as the upstairs at Sophia's, with a sizable dance floor that holds about 150 people, a bar, and plenty of lounge seating. 

Close to the green line (St. Mary's on the C train, Fenway on the D, Kenmore on the B), plenty of street and lot parking.

Irish/America/Bar food available until 10pm.  I have eaten there regularly, it is very tasty and modestly priced.

Note: they have Karaoke with my man Kev-Mac Daddy in the front portion of the bar when you walk in, but don't let that scare you... Salsa is in the back room!  Full Bar.  Please check your coat.

We have this great event coming up with a band directly from Costa Rica, that some folks in Boston here already seen. This band has visited us 5 times in the last 8 years.
They are a great entertainment group.
They will be at Ryles Friday June 9th from 9pm to 2am. Tickets can be purchased online with a discount ($10)or at the door full price ($15).

Join Casa Myrna Vazquez this Thursday, June 15th, for  ¡Noche de Fantasía!, an evening of live Latin music and dance, at the South End’s Jorge Hernandez Cultural Center.  Tickets are only $15, with all proceeds to
benefit the agency’s shelters, programs and services for
victims of domestic violence. The benefit event features
complimentary Salsa lessons and exhibition dancing by

The MIT Salsa Social -- Saturday, June 17th
Mark your calendars!  The First-Annual MIT Salsa Social,
hosted by the MIT Salsa Club,  takes place in MIT’s Morss
Hall, a beautiful 7000-square-foot hall complete with Greco-Roman architecture and neo-classical murals. DJ .D. Martinez will keep the place moving all night long, while Camino Real will feed you some of Boston’s best Colombian food!  Free salsa lessons for beginner and intermediate dancers begin at 8 pm.  Don't forget to bring your dancing shoes and your appetite!

Tickets: $5 at the door. All-ages event.

Jam'nastics Classes
Hi everyone!

There are some new changes going into effect this session.  These changes are to the class schedule and addition of a new location.
Classes will begin June 12, and will be on Mondays and Wednesdays.  On Monday we will be at The JP School of Dance on Amory St. in Jamaica Plain, and on Wednesday the classes will be at theYWCA in Central Square.  The classes to be offered are as follows:

Mondays in JP
6-7pm   Salsa technique
7-8pm   Getting Started with Salsa
7-8pm   Partnering with Style
8-10pm Training group and performance team practice

Wednesdays at the YWCA
6-7pm     ChaChaCha
7-8pm     Getting Started with Salsa
7-8pm     Spinning and Partnering
8-8:30pm Footwork Challenge
8-8:30pm Ladies spinning with style challenge

Prices for the 8 week session are:
1 hour classes:
drop in rate $15 per class
session $104 (save! adds up to $13 per class)

1/2 hour classes:
drop in rate $8 per class
session $56 (Save! adds up to $7 per class)

Training group: $250 for the session
This includes 2 hours of classes per week (you choose which ones) and 2 hours of training in a small group working on partnering, spinning drills, styling, and more.

Johnny & Kelly’s Summer Session starts next week!
Learn sexy salsa moves, turn patterns and funky freestyle footwork. Practice your body movement, isolations, and styling. Classes offered at three levels—Beginner, Advanced Beginner and Intermediate/Advanced.

Join us for Johnny & Kelly’s monthly salsa workshops.  Specialty workshops are a great way to refine your dancing by concentrating on different aspects of the dance and music.  Each month, we teach a 1 1/2-hour workshop on a specific topic.  The June workshop will be scheduled toward the end of the month.  Stay tuned for details.
