An Tua Nua is a great
contemporary Irish bar & grill on Beacon Street just outside of Kenmore
Square (only about 3 blocks from Sophia's). In the back they have a dance
club about the same size as the upstairs at Sophia's, with a sizable dance floor
that holds about 150 people, a bar, and plenty of lounge
seating.
Close to the green line (St. Mary's on the C train, Fenway
on the D, Kenmore on the B), plenty of street and lot
parking.
Irish/America/Bar food available until 10pm. I have eaten
there regularly, it is very tasty and modestly priced.
Note: they have
Karaoke with my man Kev-Mac Daddy in the front portion of the bar when you walk
in, but don't let that scare you... Salsa is in the back room! Full
Bar. Please check your coat.

This events is at Whiskey Park, an ultra-stylish
lounge in the Park Plaza. They do great bourbon and rye cocktails, but it’s the
design, clientele and JetSet Parties that are the main attractions - a place to
see and be scene. The interior is plush and glam, with fake fur couches, liquid
leather loveseats and two dark-wood bar counters for posing at. Skimpily-clad
waitresses in body hugging black bring drinks to your table, and a VIP area adds
to the
exclusivity.

******************************************************************* 6) I
am writing with an inquiry about the possibility of your making a general
announcement to your listserve as part of a community collaboration. I am
currently co-producing a free, outdoor concert series as part of a collaboration
between Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción (IBA), Berklee Colelge of Music and The
City of Boston Department of Parks and Recreation.
The series is
named the Tito Puente Latin Music Series, and it will feature two free, outdoor
performances in O'Day Park, which is located next door to IBA's Jorge Hernandez
Cultural Center in the South End (85 West Newton Street). The shows will
be from 7-9pm on Thursday, July 13 and Thursday, July 27. It is all being
done for the community and will feature La Tradición on the 13th (Lead by
Bernardo Hernandez) and the Ernesto Diaz Afro-Latin Project (Lead by Ernesto
Diaz). Both groups will play a combination of Salsa, Cha Cha, Rumba and
traditional music of Columbia and Venezuela.
I appreciate your
consideration. This is very important for both the Villa Victoria
community and all communities in the Boston--area, especially since violence in
the South End has risen so much this year. Please feel free to contact me
at the number below if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
James
