An Tua Nua is a great
contemporary Irish bar & grill on Beacon Street just outside of Kenmore
Square (only about 3 blocks from Sophia's). In the back they have a dance
club about the same size as the upstairs at Sophia's, with a sizable dance floor
that holds about 150 people, a bar, and plenty of lounge seating.
Close
to the green line (St. Mary's on the C train, Fenway on the D, Kenmore on the
B), plenty of street and lot parking.
Irish/America/Bar food available
until 10pm. I have eaten there regularly, it is very tasty and modestly
priced.
Note: they have Karaoke with my man Kev-Mac Daddy in the front
portion of the bar when you walk in, but don't let that scare you... Salsa is in
the back room! Full Bar. Please check your coat.

******************************************************************* 3) Argentine
Tango and Salsa Dance Class Series Sponsored by: Arts and Entertainment
committee of the MIT Club of Boston
Renowned dance instructors Cheryl
Casquejo-Adcock '91 and her husband Steven Adcock will be teaching a series of
dance classes in Argentine Tango and Salsa at MIT this fall.
Steven and
Cheryl specialize in the improvisational dances, Argentine Tango and Salsa.
Their unique backgrounds provide an alchemic core for their teaching skills and
performing style.
Steven began his early dance career as a ballet and
jazz performer working with a number of professional companies. Later, he
trained in the competitive style ballroom and latin dances.
Cheryl is a
1991 graduate of MIT. Adding graceful elegance and steamy sensuality to her
intellectual prowess, Cheryl has trained in the ballroom dance arts for 12
years. She has competed in both Standard Ballroom and American Rhythm styles as
well as Salsa and Hustle.
Their combined artistic and academic studies of
the human body as it relates to dance and movement create an extraordinary
teaching environment. They are National Argentine Tango Directors and syllabus
writers for one of the world's largest ballroom franchises and compete with
Pro-Am students on the National and World championship level.
There will
be 2 classes held on each of the following Tuesday nights: Nov. 21, Nov. 28,

IAP Classes and Workshops:
During
IAP (MIT's short winter term, from Jan. to the beginning of Feb.), the Salsa
Club is offering two great sets of classes and workshops before the Spring
term begins again in February. (There are only 3 more classes in MIT Salsa
Club's fall term! How time flies!)
First, we're excited to offer a
four-week Beginners Lesson taught by Salsa for Gringos! Olaf will be
teaching with us for IAP on Tuesday nights throughout the term. He is
known for his unique approach to teaching salsa and his disarmingly witty
commentary throughout his lessons. So, if you're a beginning dancer and
want a down-to-earth approach to learning salsa, then bring your two left feet
to class for Olaf's IAP Salsa for Gringos Series!
Also, a four-week
workshop series devoted to the fine points of dancing (timing, leading and
following, body movement and styling, footwork, etc.) will be
offered Monday nights throughout IAP! Each class will break down the
elements of dancing and have you refine them in fun drills and short
combinations. This series of workshops is for ALL LEVELS of dancers.
So, come to class prepared to tune-up your dancing and to throw away old bad
habits!
More info on class dates and times is on the
way!
