Well,
June is five months away, but it's time to be thinking about groups and charters
on the famous SalsaBoston Harbor Cruises! Have a look at last year's
website (season 6), at http://salsaboston.com/cruise
If
you are involved in a group or a corporation that would be interested in booking
a fabulous night of dancing on the harbor, either as a private charter or as
part of our regular cruise series, please contact me at
olaf@salsaboston.com. Event co-sponsor opportunities are available as well
(ex: product sampling, title sponsorship, web advertising,
etc.)

An Tua Nua is a great
contemporary Irish bar & grill on Beacon Street just outside of Kenmore
Square (only about 3 blocks from Sophia's). In the back they have a dance
club about the same size as the upstairs at Sophia's, with a sizable dance floor
that holds about 150 people, a bar, and plenty of lounge seating.
Close
to the green line (St. Mary's on the C train, Fenway on the D, Kenmore on the
B), plenty of street and lot parking.
Irish/America/Bar food available
until 10pm. I have eaten there regularly, it is very tasty and modestly
priced.
Note: they have Karaoke with my man Kev-Mac Daddy in the front
portion of the bar when you walk in, but don't let that scare you... Salsa is in
the back room! Full Bar. Please check your coat.

Dear
Friends of the Dance, As the autumn season wanes and winter approaches, we at
the North Shore Civic Ballet would like you to remember that spring is on the
horizon. Our biggest and most successful fundraising event, the 8th Annual
Fiesta de Baile and Silent Auction, has been scheduled for March 24, 2007 at the
Nahant Country Club with its fantastic dance floor. Beginning at 9:00pm with a
complimentary salsa lesson from professional dancers, the evening is sure to be
a lively tribute to the Latin art form. DJ Antonio Ortiz will once again provide
us with the authentic sound until 1:00pm. Hors d’oeuvres are included with
admission and a cash bar is available throughout the evening. The silent
auction, an important part of the event, promises a wonderful array of eclectic
items and services, catering to all ages, dancers or spectators. The many
wonderful gift donations provide us with the opportunity to raise funds for the
NSCB, and in these lean times, they are very necessary for the continued
operations of the school. As a previous contributor to our organization, we urge
you to save the date in your 2007 calendar, put on your dancing shoes, and open
your pocketbook to us.
The enclosed forms have donation level
descriptions for table reservations and we hope you are feeling expansive. You
may order tickets early at a discounted rate of $30.00 each, as we will charge
$35.00 on the night of the Event. We encourage you to plan early to reserve
tables since seating is limited at the country club. Donations to the NSCB of
any amount are always welcome at any time.
Thank you in advance for your
support of the arts and of the dance experience. In this stressful world, we are
reminded of how grateful we are to live in a place that allows us to move and
dance freely. Happy Holidays to you and to all the special people in your
life. Yours truly, Paula K. Shiff
And the Fiesta
Committee

Follow this link for a full description and directions http://bostonrueda.wikispaces.com/La+Rueda+de+Bachata
Bachata
is a popular guitar music from the Dominican Republic that is
now overwhelmingly successful among Latinos in the United
States.
Rueda de Bachata is similar in concept to Rueda de Casino, the
very popular style of salsa dancing done in couples in a circle. Rueda de
Bachata was created in Boston by Seemore Johnson and Cristina Pujol, founders
of Hips on Fire Latino Dance Company and Instructional School in
2003.
It combines the social and "calling" aspects of Rueda with the
rythymic beat of Bachata to offer another way to enjoy dancing and making new
friends.
Check out the official website of the creators of this style http://www.ruedadebachata.com
