Hola Salseros!
Formatting messed up? Read this on the web at

** See you at An Tua Nua Tonight! Hopping as always!
http://salsaboston.com/antuanua or scroll down.
** Some club notes:
As you may know, Havana Club is temporarily homeless in Cambridge. This is
because the property owners from whom Havana Club leases the space, are having
licensing issues, which are anticipated to be resolved soon. In the meantime,
Havana Saturdays are hopping over in the South End at JHCC (where the El Bembe
salsa parties used to be). Also, look for a new/temporary Friday 18+ party in
Cambridge beginning in May. Check out everything at
http://havanaclubsalsa.com.
In the meantime, if you're stranded for Salsa on Friday as a result of this
"mess", how about swing dancing? SalsaBoston has taken over the management of
"Swing City", Boston's long standing Friday night Swing Dance, featuring New
England's best Swing orchestras, lessons, and hot vibe! The party reopens
this Friday in Somerville, near Porter Square. For more details, or if you're
interested in Swing, visit http://swingcityboston.com, and also be sure to add
yourself to the mailing list.
Also, if you haven't been, Salsa at Masa on Thursdays is hopping, very casual
yet great drinks, bar service, and superb 50cent/$1 tapas at the bar (I
recommend the sampler platter).
http://salsaboston.com/cg/index.cgi?action=showdetail&day=Thursday&name=Masa
** This Saturday, Miami-based Grammy nominated Cuban music group, Tiempo Libre
is performing at the Berklee Performance Center. For Salsa Dancers, purchase
your ticket online for only $25! (~$45 regular). But you have to do it by
this Thursday to get the deal. See mailbag for details.
** Also this Sat., another Masacote Salsa Social at KofC Charlestown. See
mailbag.
See you on the dance floor!
-Olaf

An Tua Nua is a great contemporary Irish bar & grill on Beacon Street just
outside of Kenmore Square (only about 3 blocks from Sophia's). In the back
they have a dance club about the same size as the upstairs at Sophia's, with a
sizable dance floor that holds about 150 people, a bar, and plenty of lounge
seating.
Close to the green line (St. Mary's on the C train, Fenway on the D, Kenmore
on the B), plenty of street and lot parking.
Irish/America/Bar food available until 10pm. I have eaten there regularly, it
is very tasty and modestly priced.
Note: they have Karaoke with my man Kev-Mac Daddy in the front portion of the
bar when you walk in, but don't let that scare you... Salsa is in the back
room! Full Bar. Please check your coat.

Tiempo Libre will perform on Saturday, April 12th, at 8:00 PM, at the Berklee
Performance Center, 136 Massachusetts Avenue, Boston.
The members of the Miami-based Cuban music group, Tiempo Libre, were all
classically trained in Cuba’s premiere conservatories at a time when it was
illegal to listen to American songs on the radio. Now they are a sensation in
the U.S., with concerts all around the country and two consecutive Grammy
nominations.
There is a special discount rate – just $25! – for salsa dancers. To take
advantage of this special offer, call Celebrity Charge at 617-482-6661,
Monday-Friday between 10 am and 4 pm, and tell the operator that you’re a
salsa dancer. (Note: Maximum of two tickets per person at this special rate;
subject to availability. Must purchase by April 10.) For more information on
the event, visit www.celebrityseries.org.
Tiempo Libre’s show is a dynamic, high-voltage and passionate performance of
timba music – an exciting and engaging combination of Latin jazz and
traditional Cuban son. Their goal is to serve as ambassadors to Cuba’s
musical heritage, while celebrating the American experience. There hasn’t
been a concert yet where people haven’t gotten out of their seats to dance.
Tiempo Libre’s website is www.tiempolibremusic.com.
We hope you’ll let your readers know about this electrifying evening. Please
let us know if we may provide any more information.
