Hola Salseros!
Hopefully you had the pleasure of making it out to Brookline Tai Chi last Saturday for the Lena Salsa Social, a veritable mini-congress in its own right! What great energy! Kudos to Willie and the Lena team for organizing it, and choosing SalsaBoston to help make it happen. It was a party in grand style! In Willie's kind words:

An Tua Nua is a great contemporary Irish bar & grill on Beacon Street just outside of Kenmore Square (only about 3 blocks from Sophia's). In the back they have a dance club about the same size as the upstairs at Sophia's, with a sizable dance floor that holds about 150 people, a bar, and plenty of lounge seating.
Close to the green line (St. Mary's on the C train, Fenway on the D, Kenmore on the B), plenty of street and lot parking.
Irish/America/Bar food available until 10pm. I have eaten there regularly, it is very tasty and modestly priced.
Note: they have Karaoke with my man Kev-Mac Daddy in the front portion of the bar when you walk in, but don't let that scare you... Salsa is in the back room! Full Bar. Please check your coat.

Welcome to Club Caribé, Boston's newest upscale Salsa/Latin hotspot! Resident DJ's Hernan and D. Martinez are in the house spinning the best of Salsa, plus frequent special night and promotions. The party is hopping! If you hadn't heard already, something like 400-450 people made it to the opening, and we've been going strong ever since.

Workshop Description 4x 50 Minute Workshops
(1-2pm) Bachata Foundation/Dominican Style Bachata -
Get ready to learn a great foundation of moves including Bachata motion, turns, half turns and Dominican motion. This class sets the foundation of the entire workshop. This workshop focuses on material taught on our Level I Bachata DVD.
(2-3pm) Bachata Hot Combinations -
Get ready to learn amazing Signature Lee "El Gringuito" Bachata moves. This class will utilize many of the principles taught in Bachata Foundations. You will start to develop your Domincan Style Bachata step with moves like La Dominicana and then be ready for exciting combinations like Extreme Bachata. This workshop focuses on moves taught on our Level II Bachata DVD.
(3-4pm) Bridging the Gap Between Bachata & Salsa-
In this class you will learn how to take Salsa combinations and convert them into Bachata moves. Both dances share some basic musicalities. You will learn a number of Salsa combinations and then we will convert them into Hot Bachata Moves
(4-5pm) Bachata Tricks and Dips
Get ready to Spice Up Your Bachata with amazing tricks and dips. This "LA Style Flair" can be added at key moments in songs to give that extra "punch." You will learn Bachata Dip, Tango Lift and Dip and Hypnotic Bachata! We will also dicuss safety and common elements among moves. This workshop focuses on moves taught on our Level III Bahata DVD.
Followed that night by Dancing at Havana Club/Saturday!

More about LEE Edward Smith Jr. ...................
Lee has traveled around the world performing his exciting Latin dance and magic shows. Over the past eleven years he has performed in over 47 States and six countries. In fact, in the last two years alone Lee has taught over 100,000 people to Latin dance throughout the United States. Throughout his career, he has taught more College Students to Latin dance and taught more students Bachata than anyone in the World!
Recently he has appeared in episodes of Ambush Makeover, FOX Television, NBC, ABC Univision, Telemundo as well as the final episode of America's Got Talent. In 2005, he was nominated Salsa Instructor of the year. In 2006, he was chosen to represent Latin America at the World Bank International Showcase of Talent seen in over a hundred countries around the world. In 2007, Lee taught over 6,000 Microsoft employees to dance at Coors Field in Denver Colorado and was nominated as Novelty Act of the Year by the APCA Entertainment Bureau. He has won countless awards and competitions including the Natura Park Dance Competition, in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic as well as being a Finalist in the DC Ortanique Salsa Competition. In 2007, Lee debuted his first Instructional DVD, which is being called "the most comprehensive beginner Salsa DVD ever made!" In 2008, he released his much anticipated 3 DVD Bachata Set.

Hey everyone, This is an opportunity to help spread salsa across the border. I am starting a social in Merrimack NH. It is an hour outside of Boston at a ballroom called Paper Moon Dance Center. It is a huge studio with an amazing floor. Please come and help support me and the Paper Moon Dance Center bring salsa to New Hampshire. Lets show them what salsa really is! The workshops will be taught by me and my partner Darlin Garcia from Art In Motion based out of Philadelphia. There will also be a performance with special guest appearances from Lena Dance Company, Estilo Dance (philadelphia), Juan Chavez, Darlin Garcia and myself, as well as several others to be announced.
