I'm working in Maine right now and I'd really like to take advantage of being on the East Coast to go to Boston on my day off and salsa!
Unfortunately, my only day off is a Monday, and I doubt I can convince my co-workers to make the 4 hour drive with me to go dancing, especially as they're not really salsa-dancers themselves.
The reviews for Cache seem decent--if you have a dance partner or a group of friends to go with. Otherwise it sounds a bit dangerous.
My question is: is there anywhere else that is fun and safe to go to alone to dance salsa on a Monday? Or, conversely, is there any men who can dance out there who'd be interested in being my dance partner for an evening?
I'm a very tall woman (6'1") and learned salsa in Austin TX. I can dance "intermediate" salsa. ie: I follow a fairly well, but I don't know a lot of trick moves and have very little formal training (lessons don't generally fit my work schedule). Like anyone, I can do merengue, and sort-of cha-cha but I much prefer salsa. I'm good enough I don't much enjoy dancing with people who can't lead, but not good enough that the instructors ask me to dance--yet.
I don't usually have any trouble finding dance partners at social salsa clubs, but I don't like to be "picked up" or end up dancing with lascivious men who only ask for the excuse of touching your body. It sounds like the Cache may attract some of those kinds of people. So I'm looking for other options.
If you know of someplace else, or would be interested in making a new friend and showing me the salsa scene, please send me an email! fayjess@earthlink.net
