The Havana Club provides a casually elegant evening (Mambo Mondays!) for beginning and serious salsa dancers. The night features a beginner lesson from 8-9, followed by a salsa dance from 9-12. Havana Club is located at Toast, an upscale lounge which can luxuriously seat 75 while 150 dance. Free Valet Parking is available for women traveling alone. (Call 617.312.5550 when outside). Admission is $10. DJ D Martinez will be spinning.
Last week’s opening was a smashing success, with 80 people coming out to dance. This is how one veteran salsero describes the night in the salsaboston.com club review section:
“Mambo Mondays is a hit. This place is an easy choice for a Monday dance night when you can meet with the best salseros around and enjoy an evening of mainly salsa and excellent food with cool environment, cool drinks, cool glasses (not a plastic cup in the place), cool people and (even a) cool coat check. Did I say this place was "cool"? And, there is room for enough for everybody (for now, anyways). Free valet for women traveling alone is a nice touch. The staff is ultrafriendly (very cool) and quite accomodating. I am sure salseros everywhere will join in on this one. – Greg”
Guys - Monday night football will be on the big screen (volume off!).
Toast is located at 70 Union Square in Somerville. To drive there from Cambridge’s central square, go 1 mile up Prospect St., take a left at the Dunkin’ Donuts and look for the Independent Restaurant on your right; ‘Toast’ is next door. There are free parking areas in front of and behind the affiliated Independent Restaurant, and throughout the square. Bus routes 85, 86, 87, and 91 have Union Square stops.
