: I'm looking to take salsa lessons and I feel a little overwhelmed with all the choices this web site offers.I'd love to learn with other people and I'm at a beginner level. Any suggestions to narrow all these choices down?

As a beginner, I recommend either Sophia's on Wed. nights or Ryles on Thursdays for a few introductory lessons and a casual atmosphere. That way you can get a sense of the basic rhythm, the music, and the styles, and also you can get a chance to talk to people who's dancing you admire. Ask those people where they learned, and they can point you to the lessons which you'll want.

There are a lot of different dancing and teaching styles, so you'll want to make sure the instructor teaches the style you like in a way that you are actually LEARNING it. In other words, people learn in different ways and different speeds, so if you get frustrated with a class, try a different one! (Don't hesitate to tell the instructor though, afterall you are paying for their service and if you don't like what you are getting for your money then you are entitled to have some say about it.)

Cheers!
