Hi
Yup, I don't care for them, the Salsa snobs. Salsa is a social dance that takes place at night clubs. I came from a ballroom dancing back ground. I was taught girls are not suppose to say no to guys when they are asked to dance. If you girls don't want to dance, just at least give a very resonable excuse instead of shooting him down. We are not borned good leaders or good dancers . It takes time, training, and lots of practice to become one. So... salsa snob, you know who you are. Give the guys a chance or two, have fun and be sociable.
Guys, give enough time to prepare each lead, set it up in the easiest way you can to lead the girls (basics steps are fine, nothing's wrong with that). Don't worry about the spins and turns so much. Don't try to trick the girls into slick moves. Listen to the music and try to dance on beats. Girls enjoy dancing with guys who can dance on time with music, ... oh and smile once in a while.

: Hi,

: I notice that in some of the salsa nights
: in Boston, the same crowd goes again and again.
: This isn't a bad thing at all, but
: I notice a degree of snobbery, especially
: amongst the women, where they don't like
: to dance with newer dancers and leaders
: who may not be as good as salsa teachers,
: who like to show off on the dance floor.

: This can be intimidating to leaders who are
: trying to learn and improve their skills.

: Chill out! Don't be such snobs, relax, dance
: with new people, and have fun.
: Remember, when you first started dancing salsa,
: you probably sucked too.
