Well, the unofficial story is something like this:

Owners make lots of money.
Owners forget to do building maintainance or ignore it.
Things start breaking.
Clientelle starts to get annoyed and stops showing up.
Owners spend some money on repairs to string it along.
Overall the business is losing money.
Owners discover that by making incremental improvements, they are required to get all kinds of things up to code at the same time.
Owners decide to shut down, padlock the door, and sell.

Rumor is the Red Sox bought it as the new management office.

Sophia's is definitely NEVER coming back at that location.

Anyway, that's what I heard/experienced...
