FALL CUBAN SALSA STYLE CLASSES

SIX-WEEK WORKSHOP IN CUBAN STYLE SALSA (also known as “casino”)
with Reynaldo González and Linda Rodríguez

Learn the latest salsa steps direct from Havana!
Immerse yourself in one of the world’s greatest dance traditions.

This workshop is designed to teach you the basic elements of casino:

1) the influence of son dance in casino
2) partnering and turns in casino
3) dancing in a rueda de casino
4) despelote and Cuban movement
5) the history of contemporary Cuban salsa music

The workshop is designed to move progressively. Drop-ins are welcome but please try to come to all classes!

$12 each class or $60 for the entire workshop

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTORS
Reynaldo González, born in Matanzas, Cuba, has been dancing, singing and playing percussion since early childhood. After graduating from the Escuela para Instructores de Arte in 1984, he became one of the principal dancers and choreographers for the prominent Cuban group Afro-Cuba de Matanzas and toured with the group to the U.S. in 1996. He teaches AfroCuban folkloric dance on Sundays at the Dance Complex in Cambridge.

Linda Rodríguez has studied Cuban sacred and popular dance with members of Yoruba Andabo, Ban Rra Ra, and the Conjunto Nacional Folklórico de Cuba during numerous trips to Cuba. She hosts Boston’s only regular Cuban dance party at Ryles Jazz Club in Cambridge.
