I'd tell him that your life is too hectic right now and can't be going out. If he insists on finding out why, tell him that your life's paths and daily experiences are much different than what he is, and you don't think they mesh well. You can tell him it's not his fault, it's just that his personality traits and yours don't mesh as good as they should.
