Thank you Olaf for so clearly illustrating a view I've had for some time now - that Salsaboston's running of both "Boston's premier Latin music and dance website" as well as Salsa nights (Wednesdays, Sundays, etc.) represents a conflict of interest and is anti competitive. This would be like the Boston Globe running several movie theatres and clubs in town.

Despite your efforts and heavy handed tactics, dancers in Boston, including many of your colleagues, know that April and her crew put on exceptional events. They came out in numbers to enjoy a sold out New Year's party at Ryles.

: People are asking me, "Where's the new years salsa party?!"

: Sigh... We're not doing one for once in a long while, and in fact I'm going out to hit a couple parties with friends for a change instead of working!

: There are some options though.

: Mojitos is throwing a big Shin-Dig, Sophia's style basically. www.mojitosboston.com

: There's also the Havana Club party at Hoffas. www.havanaclubsalsa.com

: I'm hitting the JetSet Events party, not salsa but a good scene. www.jetsetevents.com, discount tickets from the salsaboston store.

: And finally, there is a party at Ryles. This one is being put on by the AprilOn2 management, whoever that is. Sadly however, after years of anti-salsaboston c--p from this bunch and though I continuously provided them the same level of free promotional services as to everyone else, more recently they have actively gone out of their way to _prevent_ us from promoting certain events, which crosses an already way overstretched line of decency. So... in case you're wondering, this bunch has more recently been formally blacklisted, a first in SalsaBoston history.

: Now, it's not expected that anybody really cares about "stupid salsa politics" except a few insiders. Heck I don't even really, but unfortunately I have to maintain a policy for my own sanity. This community, this business of salsa, whatever you want to call it, depends very much on mutual back-scratching, and unfortunately a limited few of these AprilOn2 individuals have simply proven that they don't know how to play in the same sandbox.

: Okay, whatever! Keep on dancing!

: Happy New Year and see you on the dancefloor!

: -Olaf
