Very well known in the NYC salsa world, Pierina is a passionate and amazing dancer and person. She spins at the speed of light and does so with impeccable technique, precision, and grace. Always happy, smiling, and energetic, she embodies the definition of mambo and style. Currently, Pie is the Dance Captain of the professional Latin dance company Xibicion and has been part of the Santoriqueas for the past 2 years. She was hired to dance in Santo Rico's fully adult company when she was only 14, and she remains the youngest member and Dance Captain ever in Santo Rico. At 16, she began teaching professionally, and was hired to tour the world renowned Santo Rico, Inc. professional Dance Company. She has danced all over the United States, including the 2005 West Coast Salsa Congress, 2004/05 New York Salsa Congress, 2004 NY/NJ Salsa Festival, 2005 Philadelphia Salsa Congress, and tons of other events domestically and abroad. Pie loves to teach and does so with great diligence, care, charisma, and amazing detail. And...she's coming to Boston!
Ladies’ Styling & Spinning
1:30pm – 3:00pm
The Dance Complex, Central Sq.
This workshop will be separated in two parts:
First, Pierina will concentrate on ladies’ styling and help add more personality to your dancing. All choreography will emphasize styling, which can be applied to your overall dancing and technique. The piece will be broken down into basic body movements such as body rolls, head whips, arms paths, etc.
Then the world’s most effective method of spinning will be introduced. Pierina will cover this method, which improves speed, reaction time and balance, along with other techniques to help with overall footwork and body positioning for ladies.
FreeStyle & Shines in Mambo
3:00pm – 4:30pm
The Dance Complex, Central Sq.
This workshop is addressed to both ladies and gentlemen. This is the opportunity to learn a fast-paced, fun routine that will include elaborate footwork and styling for both men and ladies. The emphasis will be put on the steps and the routine itself, rather than on the styling. We want this class to be an opportunity for all to be challenged, have fun, and express yourselves!
Offered with each class is a CD with clips of each routine that will be taught as well as MP3’s of the songs and music used.
