I am a member of the Boston-area Catholic Charities Young Professionals. We are going to host a Latin-themed fundraiser in June at Boston City Hall for an alternative High School for at-risk students, El Centro del Cardenal. We're looking to have group instructions for awhile, and then open dancing for the rest of the night. We are looking for a band/DJ, a couple of dance instructors, and a Latin restaurant that would be willing to supply food. Ideally we'd be able to get someone to provide some Latin alcohol (beer and wine only most likely) as well.
My wife and I are just getting into Salsa, and enjoy it a lot. It's a lot of fun, and we thought it would be a good fit for this fundraiser. But I'm also not that familiar with the Latin scene, and would welcome any suggestions anyone has as far as who I should contact.
Given that we're trying to raise / donate as much as we can to El Centro, ideally we'd be able to find a band/DJ, instructors, and a restaurant or two to donate their time / services. They'd get some great press, and help a great cause in the process.
So I'd love to hear any receommendations. And if anyone has any suggestions about the event itself to make it a lot of fun, I'm all ears. Feel free to email me: mschuey@comcast.net.
Thanks a ton in advance!
