Hey Jim, I'd like to also thank you for your positive feedback regarding the music. Obviously, it is hard to keep everyone happy. Some people want all old school, fast songs. Some people want all new salsa, and a lot more reggaeton, bachata and merengue. And new people need music that they can hear the beats and begin to dance to. It's hard to keep everyone happy, and it is usually the people who are complaining who are the squeeky wheels - so thanks again for the kind words there.

: Hey Jim,

: We are putting in a sprinkler system, getting the a/c fixed, and continuing to run a party that has low margins because people don't (thankfully) drink much at the bar.

: ***Every place that had salsa on the weekends has gone under.*** Sophia's, BCCA, Green St Grill (under the old management), Hoffa's.

: It is hard to keep these nights going. Especially when there are major invesments (like the sprinkler system and a/c) coming up.

: Three solutions: 1) let people in to the capacity (current strategy), 2) raise the prices, 3) change the party to hip-hop, reggaeton, etc. so that the bar makes more money.

: Given that number three is not really an option in my book, we'll continue to pack 'em in unless people tell me they want to spend $15 admission.

: Finally, I would say two things. First, the dancefloor is not the most crowded in either Boston or Boston's salsa community. In non-salsa clubs people don't take up as much space dancing. And, obviously, thing would be better if people were to be more considerate while dancing salsa. People tend to just think about doing spun out moves, not leading well or using space properly. Second, where the heck has everyone been on Saturdays? Like I've been saying for a long time, if you want more space in which to dance, come Saturday. That party felt like a high school dance for 8 months there was so much space. (Fortunately, it is a thriving party now.) Situations like that - where the Friday party was packed for a long time and the Saturday party wasn't - lead me to believe that while some people say they want room to dance, what they really want is the buzz of a packed party.

: Anyhow, the bottom line is that we *finally* have a great place to dance salsa on the weekend. And the party will change over time. When we finish the sprinkler system and a/c, we may just expand to an additional floor or two...

: So, Jim and everyone else, hang in there, thanks for the support, come to Saturdays more, and let's hope things keep going so well that our troubles are (relatively) small ones.

:
: : I was at Havana Clud last Friday, and was very dissapointed. It used to be such a great place to dance, meet people, and learn some new moves. Now, it is SO croweded you hardly can stand in corner without begin hit ot stepped on. The lesson is hard to follow.Because it is so many people, I didn't hear an instructor at all. I wish it will be some limit for how many people can walk in. Anyway, for 12 bucks it wasn't that much of a joy last Firday. Have to add that music is still great (thanks Jeff).
