In Reply to: What happened to Havana Club Saturdays? posted by SaturdaySalsero on August 31, 2007 at 10:03:59:
Havana Club's Saturday party was mysteriously taken away by the Greek Club management and given to another group: Son Latino. I'm unclear why, and there seems to be some bad blood between the numerous parties.
So there is still a Saturday party but it is not run by Havana Club and thus has a lot less people and no live bands. I can't vouch on how good it is, since I haven't been there. I've heard other people say good things about it.
Friday night lost a lot of people thanks to the 21+ jump (Also caused by the Greek Club Management). But it has slowly regained many of them. However, dancing is actually a lot more fun than it used to be, because they've added a strict person count (and a long line out the door if you get in late).
One thing to note: Bring your ID - the greek club is almost nazi like in their ID checking obsession. I've seen 50+ year old people get carded. Very strange. I have two theories: 1) They have no clue how to run a bar and what the common rules for ID are. 2) They are trying to make Jeff and Havana Club's life more difficult due to the above stated bad blood.
: I used to go there on Saturdays, since Fridays tend to get a bit crowded, but they have not been open for a few weeks now! What happened?
: (I just got back from a 3 week vacation...)
: and I heard Fridays is now a 21+ place (actually the website says it). Is it a little less crowded now? Maybe I'll give Fri a second chance!
: Is this change related to the Sat nights' closure?
: Just curious.
