Hello! My name is Yaritza and I am a freshman at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. If you have ever heard about Bowdoin you would know that it is a small, private liberal arts school which one could imagine to be lacking of other cultural representation. I myself am one of few Latina students who attend the college and I am desperately trying to put a salsa dance team together to promote diversity and Latin culture on campus. I was a member of a dance troupe back home in Boston, MA which was called Ritmo en Accion. We were instructed by the salsa group Hacha y Machete and had the opportunity to learn and perform our routines all over the Boston area. I am trying to bring the same idea to my new school but I am struggling to find a talented instructor who would be willing to take on such a project due to the fact that salsa does not have as big a scene in Maine as it does in most other cities. I was wondering if someone could help me in my search for an instructor or with resources that could help me in my search I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!
