As a married salsera, I couldn't agree with you more, Olaf! Many of us in the "salsa circuit" have what are known as "salsa widows" ... a term for spouses, who choose not to dance even though their partner does dance (and TRUST their spouses to go out dancing anyway). My husband and I have "play night" once a week ... where he hangs out with his friends, and I go salsa dancing with mine. Of course, as Olaf said, it is a personal decision between you and your spouse ... but one that should be made with open conversation from both partners, not with an automatic assumption that the dancing spouse should give up the activity s/he loves. For a true salsero/a, we could no more give up dancing than we could give up breathing ... it's essential to our existence! :o)
So ... please don't stop asking married salsero/as to dance! :o)
